In collaboration with 3-5 secondary school classes, under the direction and coordination of musician and composer Andreas Paragioudakis, we present the musical work SOMNIA PACIS | Dreams of Peace, a creative, experimental and participatory concert format with the aim of conveying the message of peace through the power of music.
The musical material composed by Andreas Paragioudakis for this purpose, which focuses on collective, experimental and polyphonic singing and multidimensional musical actions with the chamber ensemble SOMNIA PACIS, aims to create timbres that invite listeners on an emotional journey with dynamic changes and expressive means that go beyond the classical choir and orchestra frameworkIn our project, professional musicians, music students and young secondary school choir singers work together to shape the musical identity. The voice becomes the raw material with which the concept of conflict is structured and deconstructed, with the ultimate goal of presenting a musical proposal for peaceful coexistence. By writing and integrating narrative texts and incorporating experimental means in relation to the stage presence and actions of the participants, a vibrant organism is created that aims to penetrate the aspects of conflict, starting with the individual and extending to the whole, the community, the state and the nations.

Our experience in both the musical traditions of the eastern Mediterranean region and in the field of Western music has contributed to the formation of a musical physiognomy that is not limited to a specific musical genre, but draws on material from a variety of musical genres such as contemporary, improvised, experimental, traditional and electronic music, thus serving the expressive needs and realisation of musical ideas. The inclusion of timbres from the musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean, the Balkans and Central Europe serves as a symbol of the peaceful coming together of cultures.
