Initiated by composer Andreas Paragioudakis, the Salingari Trio is an innovative research project situated at the dynamic intersection of traditional Cretan music, contemporary jazz, and electronic sound art. Featuring Andreas on Cretan lute, lyra, harp-mandola, and electronics, alongside Robert Bernhard (saxophone, electronics) and Martin Grabher (drums, synthesizers), the ensemble is dedicated to forging a unique sonic identity. Their mission is to blend the archaic melodies and rhythms of Crete with hypnotic grooves and complex jazz harmonies, creating a new musical vocabulary that honors tradition while embracing modern experimentation.
More than just a performance group, the Salingari Trio represents the culmination of years of organic artistic evolution. Born from the creative ecosystem of the Soundblossom Association, the project is the focused result of a long-standing collaboration between the three musicians. Having explored the boundaries between folklore, jazz, and electronics in various duo and collective formats over the years, the trio now stands as a refined entity built on deep intuitive communication and mutual trust.
